Experience an Italy you won’t find in any guide book as Betty and Becky introduce you to the authentic life, fabulous food, and welcoming people of one of the most picturesque areas of Europe.  Imagine . . .

  • Sipping cappuccino in the piazza while watching the swallows dip and dive in the twilight
  • Dining with students in Meredith’s recently renovated 16th-century palazzo in Sansepolcro
  • Touring the world renowned museums in Florence and throughout the region
  • Enjoying a guided tour and tasting in Italy’s wine country
  • Learning from experts who enrich your understanding of the history, architecture and art of Tuscany and
  • Umbria
  • Shopping for art and jewelry at a private showing at the Palazzo Alberti

There are special places every Tuscan tour simply must include—Florence, Assisi, Siena, for example. But the beauty of this tour is found in places that only those who know this part of Italy intimately can introduce us to. Examples of these unique opportunities include:

  • the tiny monastery in Montecasale where St. Francis would retreat to rest, sleeping on a rock ledge;
  • the headquarters of the elegant, internationally known Busatti domestic textiles, where we will be introduced to the weaving process by the owners;
  • an introduction to the world of Piero della Francesca by the Professors Banker, experts on this 15th -century, Italian artist;
  • Castello di Sorci, an ancient stone restaurant and inn outside Sansepolcro, so off the beaten path that it’s easily missed, where you will enjoy a multi-course, traditional Tuscan meal; and
  • Fattoria Resta, built in the second half of the 16th century, that was once a monastery but now home to winemaker Anna Lisa Tempestini, who will be our guide to the exceptional wines of the region, including her own label.
