Join us in welcoming the Class of 2019 to campus!

move in day

Do you remember when you first arrived to campus as a freshman at Meredith? Perhaps you fondly recall driving under the balloon arch to cheers of welcome. The Class of 2019 will arrive to campus on Saturday, August 15th, and we invite you to join us in welcoming these new students and their families to Meredith! This is your opportunity to relive one of your treasured Meredith memories but without the unpacking! Alumnae are invited to participate in the following move in day activities:

8-10 am or 10 am-Noon: Front Lawn Greeters
Families will be stationed in the front lawn area adjacent to the soccer field and will be directed by Campus Police to their assigned residence hall in increments. During this time, we invite alumnae to visit families and welcome them to campus.

8-10 am or 10 am-Noon: Front Drive Welcome
Alumnae will be stationed near the Johnson Hall fountain area to welcome students as they are directed to their residence halls. Alumnae welcoming students along the Front Drive will be provided with signs and banners.

8:30-10 am or 10 am-Noon: Door to Door Hall Greeters
Incoming students will be provided with gifts from the Alumnae Association. Alumnae will visit students and families in their room to drop off these gifts, answer questions and welcome them to Meredith.

1-3 pm: Commuter Greeters
Commuter students will arrive and check in on campus at the Cate Center. Alumnae volunteers will greet students and their families as well as provide them with a gift from the Alumnae Association.

We hope you will join the Alumnae Association in offering a warm, Meredith welcome to the Class of 2019! To join us, please send you preferred time and activity to the Office of Alumnae Relations at alumnae@meredith.edu. When responding with your interest and availability, please let us know if you would be interested in purchasing a move in day t-shirt for alumnae volunteers to wear throughout the day. Should you have any questions or need additional information, please contact the Office of Alumnae Relations at 919.760.8548 or alumnae@meredith.edu. We look forward to seeing you back on campus in August!

Alumnae Travel Program Tours Ireland

From June 6th through June 17th, Meredith’s Alumnae Travel Program explored the beautiful county of Ireland. The Ireland adventure included some of the world’s most beautiful places. The trip began and ended in Dublin, the “City of a Thousand Welcomes.” The group visited Trinity College & the Book of Kells and The Old Library, the National Gallery of Ireland, and the Yeats exhibit at the National Library. Other explorations included Glendalough, a 6th century Christian monastic settlement, a visit to a working sheep farm to watch the farmer shear a sheep and enjoy tea and scones, and a scenic drive to Rosses Point to enjoy the spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. Travelers enjoyed a banquet at Dunguaire Castle and an Irish Cabaret evening filled with dinner, dance, song and laughter. Throughout their trip, the group was immersed in the beauty, food, music, history and traditions of Ireland.

Pat Clark, ’62, describes her experience on the trip: “Traveling to Ireland with the Meredith group was even more delightful and exciting than anticipated. The itinerary was so well planned that hardly a county in Ireland with all its gorgeous scenery was missed, and all the excursions were filled with experiences to enhance our understanding of and appreciation for the Irish culture. We had such a compatible group of fellow travelers; and with knowledgeable guides, both Irish guides and Meredith leaders, not a question went unanswered. A terrific experience!”
