Stronger U

Alumnae know that Meredith women are strong. Now the College is launching Stronger U — a new opportunity to help alumnae and other professional women become even stronger.

Stronger U is a series of non-credit workshops, seminars, and conferences. It’s designed for successful women who are seeking to develop their strengths, self-confidence, and leadership potential – and who want a professional development program at a place with a proven record.

Weekend classes are held on Meredith’s campus and focus on practical, individualized knowledge that participants can use immediately.

The initial workshops are Leading With Your Strengths, a day-long workshop focused on building strengths, and 2016 Strong, a training program for women interested in running for elected office.

Leading With Your Strengths
Saturday, October 3
9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Learn how to make the most of your strengths through this day-long, interactive workshop on Meredith’s campus. You’ll identify your primary strengths and then find out how to use them to advance your career, develop your leadership skills, and collaborate more effectively with others. This session will be led by President Jo Allen, Director of StrongPoints Candice Webb, and Professor of Human Environmental Sciences Deborah Tippett.

2016 Strong
2016 Strong will be offered monthly starting on October 3, and be delivered in Saturday sessions on November 7, 2015, December 5, 2015, January 9, 2016, and February 6, 2016.

Have you ever wanted to run for county or state office, but weren’t sure how to get started? This multi-partisan training program will prepare you to run an effective campaign. You’ll learn to develop a campaign plan, work with the media, and understand your strengths and challenges as a candidate and elected official. This program is led by political expert David McLennan, who has over 20 years of experience in preparing women for political office.

Meredith’s 125th Birthday Celebration Begins!

125 blog picture

The Meredith College Archive and the steering committee for the commemoration of the 125th anniversary of the Meredith College charter are pleased to announce that we have officially launched the 125 Meredith Objects Blog. Inspired by the History of the World in 100 Objects, the purpose of this blog is to share 125 moments of Meredith History leading up to the College’s 125th anniversary on February 27, 2016. Each day, for 125 days, a new object, publication, or photograph from the Meredith College Archive will be highlighted. The ultimate goal of this blog is for readers to have a better understanding of Meredith’s deep-rooted history as a woman’s educational institution, while also taking a peek into the Meredith College Archives collection. Each post will feature a “Learn More” section where you can go to find more information on the selected topics either online or in the college archives. The link to the blog appears below:

We hope that you will find this blog to be both educational and entertaining as we celebrate 125 years of history at Meredith College. Please share this announcement and blog posts with anyone that you feel will enjoy them.

Throwback Thursday

Not much has changed on the front drive during the early morning hours of Move In Day since upperclasswomen welcomed the Class of 1997 to campus in the fall of 1993. Orientation Crew members will be out there bright and early this Saturday morning constructing the rainbow balloon arch to help welcome the Class of 2019 into the Meredith family.
